Lesson example - Silence

Using film in the classroom

This tutorial is an example reading and lesson based around the non-fiction film Silence. The film uses archive footage extensively and provides opportunities to explore the issues of fact vs fiction, interpretation and filmmaker's point of view. The tutorial also suggests how - even in a non-fiction film - filmmakers can use special film techniques like animation, flashback, music soundtrack and symbolism to speak to the audience.
